Our story
The origins of Fernández Badía Agrocacao date back to 1941, when Antonio Fernández and Amparo Lantigua, originally from San José de Conuco, settled in the community of Azlor. Since then, cacao cultivation has been a family tradition passed down through generations, solidifying an agricultural legacy deeply rooted in the region.
Over time, the family not only expanded their land holdings and production volume but also evolved into the commercialization of cacao, laying the foundation for what is now a recognized exporting company.
In 2008, José Ramón Fernández Badía, a direct descendant of the founders and with more than 16 years of experience in the sector, formally founded Fernández Badía Agrocacao.
Their vision was clear: to bring together small and medium-sized producers to strengthen their production capacity and access international markets with high-quality, sustainably produced cocoa.

Founder of Fernández Badía Agrocacao
With roots in a cocoa-producing family and over 16 years of export experience, our founder knows cocoa from the field to the global market. In 2008, he founded Fernández Badia Agrocacao with a clear vision: to transform lives through sustainable, ethical, and world-class cocoa. Today, the company impacts more than 1,200 producers, holds international certifications (organic and Rainforest Alliance), and is positioned as the fifth largest cocoa exporter in the Dominican Republic, with 6,250 tons annually.
